Edmund F. Schmidt received a Bachelors of Arts degree, summa cum laude, from Western Connecticut State University in 1972. He then received his J.D., cum laude, from Wayne State University in 1975. Mr. Schmidt is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York, the U.S. District Court: Southern District of New York, and the U.S. District Court of Connecticut.
Mr. Schmidt is chairman of the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation, and is co-founder of “The Depot,” Darien's Teen Center. He is a former member of the Darien Planning and Zoning Commission, South Western Regional Planning Agency, as well as a former commissioner with the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, Connecticut Law Revision Commission, and Connecticut African-American Affairs Commission. He was a trial attorney for the Department of Justice, Civil Division, from 1975 until 1979. He was Counsel to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Connecticut General Assembly from 1991 until 2001. Mr. Schmidt is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association. Mr. Schmidt was born in White Plains, New York on December 6, 1949.
